The SBA is aware of several banks rejecting funds. Particularly Chime, but other banks may also reject inbound funds due to fraud.
When an award payment is returned by a financial institution, the SBA will research the reason for the return and communicate with you via the platform to update payment details where appropriate.
Once payment details are updated and certified, the payment will be re-processed using the updated deposit account details. After valid payment details are collected and certified, payments will generally take 5-7 business days to be processed and reach their destination.
Be assured the award funds are reserved and will be sent. Once the award was approved the funds are not subject to running out for your approval.
If your award has not arrived yet you do not need to contact the call center or inbox staff. Rejected payments may take some time to be returned to the SBA and it will enter a queue for payment staff to research and reach out to you in case updated banking information is required.
